Kiptewit Girls’ High School is a public boarding school that was hived from the former Kiptewit High School in 2004. Kiptewit High School was started in 1972 as a Harambee day school by the AIC church in conjunction with the community. In 1977 the school became a government-assisted school. Between 2000 and 2007 the school went through turbulent times for some unclear reasons. The community lost confidence in the administration resulting in a drastic drop in the enrolment from 900 in 2000 to below 100 in 2007. Later, consultation with the community saw it appropriate to establish a new school on one side of the land to separate boys and girls. In this respect, Kiptewit Boys’ Secondary School moved to a new site leaving behind the girls in the old school building in the year 2014.
